Our stories
Since 2000, Caudwell Children has helped thousands of children and their families, providing them with vital support and life-changing equipment. Here are some of their stories.
Meet Freddie
Freddie aged 8, is autistic and is currently on the ADHD pathway awaiting an assessment. Freddie faces daily challenges with his emotions and struggles to regulate them, which often leads to him feeling overstimulated.
Meet Marcus
Marcus aged 9 is autistic. His mum Emma, applied to Caudwell Children for a Get Sensory Pack to help Marcus with his sensory difficulties and emotional regulation.
Meet Lily
Back in January 2024, Lily was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease, which is a rare genetic condition where the mitochondria in her cells cannot produce enough energy to survive.
Meet Ezzy
Ezzy was born 11 weeks early weighing just 3lbs and as she grew it was clear that Ezzy wasn’t developing in the same way as other children.
Meet Rachael
Rachael, a 24-year-old wheelchair tennis player from Cornwall, shares her deeply personal journey with Caudwell Children and her passion for the sport in celebration of Summer of Sport.
Meet Erin
Erin received funding from Caudwell Children for a custom-built racing wheelchair to pursue her passion, leading her to represent England at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Switzerland.
Meet Tom
Tom has a diagnosis of ADHD but was also showing signs of autism, so he was referred to Caudwell Children for an Autism Assessment via the NHS.
Meet Christopher
Christopher aged 5, is autistic and has been diagnosed with Global Development Delay (GDD) and has a sleep disorder.
Meet Amaya
Amaya aged 9, finds it difficult to communicate with the world around her but is extremely passionate about the environment.
Meet Elijah & Ezra
Elijah and Ezra are twin brothers. When the twins started to grow and get older, the boys’ parents noticed their development was behind compared to their other children when they were the same age.
Meet Minnie
Minnie (6) finds it difficult to communicate with her family and friends. She didn’t understand why she was different and why she felt the way she did, which made her feel upset and lonely.
Meet Mason
Mason aged 16, is autistic, none verbal, has ADHD and learning disabilities. Mason’s mum, Claire contacted Caudwell Children for help when she saw a post on Facebook about our Autism Sensory Packs.
Meet Mila
Mila aged 9 has Cerebral Palsy which is a lifelong condition that affects movement and coordination.
Meet Lucus
Lucus aged 13, is autistic. Julie, Lucus’ mum applied to Caudwell Children for a Get Sensory Pack to help him with his sensory processing.
Diane’s Story
Diane took on the extraordinary challenge of Shark Diving
I was approaching my 39th birthday so I decided to create a bucket list of 40 things to do before I turned 40.
Meet Fred
Fred aged 9, is autistic and finds some social situations extremely difficult. Fred is susceptible to peer pressure and influence at school, and struggles with his siblings.
Meet William
William aged 13 has Bilateral Talipes and is autistic. Sharon, William’s mum, applied to Caudwell Children for funding towards a Sports Wheelchair which would allow him to participate in wheelchair rugby.
Meet Ethan
Ethan is autistic and has issues with hypermobility. Ethan’s family initially applied to Caudwell Children when he was in Reception at school and we part funded a tricycle which helped Ethan to get around and strengthen his muscles.
Jo’s Story
I retired as a teacher in 2020 and had always planned to spend my retirement travelling, but COVID changed that.
