The Moth Ball Brings Gothic Glamour and Life-Changing Support to London

The Moth Ball Brings Gothic Glamour and Life-Changing Support to London

This Halloween, Caudwell Children brought a thrilling new event to London—The Moth Ball. The ball added a darkly glamorous twist to our well-loved Butterfly Ball, with a gothic theme to support disabled and autistic children. Generously sponsored by the sustainable rum company V Rum, this immersive evening received a staggering £76,160, which will go directly toward Caudwell Children’s mission to empower and change the lives of children and their families.

An Immersive Evening of Gothic Elegance

Located at the iconic 8 Northumberland Avenue near Trafalgar Square, The Moth Ball offered guests an unforgettable experience of mystery and magic. Entertainment by Elan Artists provided the perfect mix of allure and atmosphere, setting the tone for a sophisticated Halloween like no other. The event was designed to embrace the moody excitement of Halloween while capturing the elegance of our traditional Butterfly Ball.

Our Head of Events, Will Pepper, highlighted the unique inspiration behind the event, explaining, “Halloween events can often be aimed at younger audiences and rely on cliched theming, or they use shock and surprise for the horror movie fans; we wanted to infuse the glamour of our Butterfly Ball with something very moody, atmospheric, and exciting. It was amazing to see The Moth Ball come to life; it was the perfect opportunity for people who enjoy the excitement of Halloween but still wanted the sophistication of The Butterfly Ball.”

Stories of Transformation

Throughout the night, guests were moved by personal stories shared by Charlie Beswick, author of Altered Life and advocate for Caudwell Children. Charlie spoke passionately about her own journey and the importance of Caudwell Children’s work, shining a light on the critical support we provide to disabled and autistic children and their families.

In attendance were three of our previous beneficiaries—Dylan Kelsall, Sebbie Hall, and Jack Cleere—whose lives have been transformed through the charity’s support. Dylan, who received funding for a powered wheelchair, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Caudwell Children means everything to me; they give people the opportunity to unlock their potential, and not every charity does this.” Sebbie, who joined us after benefiting from our Short Breaks programme, reflected, “Caudwell Children helped me, my mum, and dad. John Caudwell is my hero because he’s kind. I sponsored a family at Caudwell Children because they supported me at Short Breaks.”

Celebrity Guests and a Powerful Live Auction

Philanthropists and celebrities attended in style, including Bradley Riches from Heartstopper, Jenny Ryan (known as “The Vixen” on The Chase), and the visionary floral artist Amie Bone. As part of the night’s festivities, guests were invited to participate in a Live Auction, which featured exclusive luxury experiences and one-of-a-kind art pieces. Led by former Olympian and motivational speaker Derek Redmond, the auction raised significant funds for our charity’s initiatives.
