Teenager, Mitchell Carling despite securing tickets to one of the most sought-after football tournaments of the year, has decided to raffle his tickets to the opening game of the Euro 2024 between Scotland and hosts Germany in a bid to raise funds for two charities, Caudwell Children and JDRF.
Mitchell who is originally from Dundee, Scotland, selflessly decided to raffle his tickets as these causes are close to his heart. The prize draw will run through online fundraising website Crowdfunder, and he aims to raise £50,000 which will be split evenly between Caudwell Children, a disabled and autistic children’s charity based in Staffordshire and JDRF which researches way to treat, prevent and cure type 1 diabetes.
Caudwell Children was founded in 2000 by John Caudwell in Stoke on Trent and has continued to evolve, providing a wide range of practical and emotional support services for children and young people aged 0-24 and campaign to create a more inclusive world for everyone.
All donations to Caudwell Children are used to fund their services which have been carefully developed with the direct input of children and families.
Passionate about providing supporters with complete peace of mind founder John Caudwell, covers the annual administration and management costs through a personal donation.
This means that 100% of direct donations are spent directly on services for children and young people.
Mitchell discovered the fundraising potential of football tickets back in 2022 when he held a similar draw for two tickets to watch Rangers F.C. take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League Final. The prize draw raised £46,880 for his two chosen charities.
Mitchell said “When I decided to raffle the Europa League Final tickets, although I knew the tickets were in demand, I never dreamed I’d raise almost £50,000 for charity. Since that draw I’ve always wanted to do another, and when I managed to get tickets to the opening match of the Euro 2024 tournament, I knew I had the potential to do more good. The two charities I have picked to support once again are close to our family; JDRF because of the support they gave my little sister when she was diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes, and Caudwell Children because we have seen the work they do and how many people they help.”
The prize draw goes live on Crowdfunder on Thursday 25th April, and will give people the chance to donate £20 in return of an entry into the draw. People are welcome to buy multiple entries, with the draw closing at 10am on Thursday 30th May. To enter the prize draw please click here.
