Tom has a diagnosis of ADHD but was also showing signs of autism, so he was referred to Caudwell Children for an Autism Assessment via the NHS.
The Caudwell Children team explained the process fully and what would happen over the two-day assessment. On the day of Tom’s autism assessment at the Caudwell International Children’s Centre, he was provided with a visual timetable to put his mind at ease and showed him what to expect.
Tom’s parents said: “Emotions have always been high when we’ve had any assessment done with Tom, he also has a diagnosis of ADHD.
“For us Tom’s autism diagnosis is NOT a negative outcome. He is our wonderfully creative, funny, loving son and he is perfect just the way he is. Though having a diagnosis gave us some understanding of Tom’s world.”
After having such a positive experience with Tom’s Autism Assessment, his parents have also had their daughter referred to Caudwell Children after years of being on the NHS waiting list.
