Little Writers – Celebrating World Book Day

Little Writers – Celebrating World Book Day

At Caudwell Children, we believe in the power of storytelling to inspire, uplift, and empower. This World Book Day, we had the pleasure of celebrating in the best possible way, by welcoming talented young author Amaya to our centre.

We invited Amaya, along with her family to the Caudwell International Children’s Centre to take on the role of Head Judge for our ‘Little Writers’ competition.

Little Writers, was created in partnership with The National Literacy Trust in Stoke on Trent to highlight the importance of creative writing and all the joy creating stories and poems can bring.

Amaya, who received her autism diagnosis at our centre, helped us select the top three winners from an array of fantastic entries.

🏅 1st PlaceThe Cheerful Tree by Harrison, aged 10
🏅 2nd PlaceRoony’s Magical Multi-Coloured Pen by Myles
🏅 3rd PlaceThe True Story of Starlight – My Friend From The Sky by Lyla, aged 8

A huge congratulations to our winners! Each of them will be contacted directly and will have a special feature in our upcoming Little Writers 2025 anthology book, where their stories will shine alongside other selected entries.

Gavin Edwards, Amaya’s dad said “It was truly magical reading all of the shortlisted entries with Amaya. Keep aspiring to achieve your goals. Well, done to all.”

We want to extend a massive thank you to Amaya for her hard work as Head Judge, to the National Literacy Trust for their invaluable support, and most importantly, to every disabled and neurodivergent child who took part in the competition. The creativity, passion, and dedication shown in each entry have truly inspired us! 💜

Stay tuned for more exciting campaigns and opportunities!
