Likewize explains why they chose to support Caudwell Children and nominate us as their “Charity of the Year”.

Why did you choose Caudwell Children as your “Charity of the Year” for 2024?

There are a few reasons why we decided to choose Caudwell Children as our “Charity of the Year”. First and foremost, we know every penny that’s raised, Caudwell Children ensures the funds will go directly to the causes that need our support. We can raise funds confidently knowing they are going to a great purpose. Another reason is that Caudwell Children is a local charity. At Likewize one of our key objectives is to support the community. So, the presence Caudwell Children has in the area is really amazing and we can see firsthand all of their incredible work and the impact it has on people as well. We have visited the Caudwell International Children’s Centre a number of times to see the team in action and the work that goes on here is just mind-blowing.

How did you first hear about Caudwell Children?

Caudwell Children is something that is very close to the heart of our CEO. He knows John Caudwell from his previous career and knows how many disabled and autistic children the charity has helped over the years. So, everyone at Likewize wanted to help as much as possible.

What have you done to fundraise for Caudwell Children?

If you think of any type of fundraising, I think we’ve done it – from running the London Marathon to hosting an auction. We’ve recently completed some easter-themed challenges, like “Guess the Easter Bunny”. We constantly think about how we can raise money. Everyone who works at Likewize loves being a part of the fundraising

We do payroll giving as well, so when people come in you can see from our lanyards who has signed up. They get a special lanyard and badge saying that they have contributed to Caudwell Children.

In our office we have how much we’ve raised on our screens, so when people come into the building there is a constant reminder of the charity we support and why.

How has the partnership with Caudwell Children helped your business?

The partnership with Caudwell Children has been amazing and it has definitely felt like a partnership. Over the last twelve months, Caudwell Children staff have visited our office to complete some training with our managers around how we can support people during interview processes and how to support autistic people through recruitment in the workplace. They explained to us what adjustments we might need to make, so it’s been really good to have that two-way relationship.

Are you looking to do anymore fundraising for Caudwell Children?

We’ve got a couple of people running the London Marathon and there are various employees that are taking on other challenges. We’ve got a walk that’s going to be taking place in the summer between our offices in Crewe and Chester. We also do smaller fundraisers like Bake Sales and one of our colleagues suggested that everyone should bring a book in to do a book exchange for a couple of pounds. All the little things matter.

How much did you raise for Caudwell Children in 2023?

Our target was £50,000 and then our CEO said he would match fund the total if we manged to raise it. So, in total last year we raised, £104,584.
