Caudwell Children Celebrates Autism Awareness Day with Fudge Kitchen

What better way to celebrate Autism Awareness Day and Caudwell Children’s 25th Anniversary than with a slice of something sweet? That’s exactly what happened when we partnered with artisan fudge makers, Fudge Kitchen, to whip up a limited-edition Birthday Fudge.

Purple People in York

To mark the occasion, our very own Purple People staff joined the Fudge Kitchen team at their York shop to help create a unique batch of Birthday Fudge. The fudge is not only a tasty tribute to the charity’s 25 years of service but also a fundraiser, with 100% of proceeds going directly to support disabled and autistic children across the UK.

Fudge Kitchen Makes Life Sweeter for Disabled and Autistic Children

Fudge Kitchen has long been committed to inclusivity and community support. Ian from the York shop expressed his pride in the collaboration:

“The work Caudwell Children does to support disabled and autistic children is absolutely amazing. We’ve always prided ourselves on being an inclusive company, and this felt like the perfect fit. Donating from the Birthday Fudge is our way of celebrating their 25 years.”

Every Slice Makes a Difference

The special edition fudge is available in all six Fudge Kitchen shops, including Canterbury, Edinburgh, and York. With only 360 slices available, customers are encouraged to grab one while they last. Every penny raised goes toward Caudwell Children’s essential services—including our in-house, multidisciplinary Autism Assessment Service.

We were nominated for this sweet collaboration by Emma, a Fudge Kitchen team member, whose own child was diagnosed with autism at the Caudwell International Children’s Centre.

According to Ian, the fudge has been a hit with customers:

“It’s really nice fudge anyway, but people love knowing they’re doing something good at the same time. The response has been amazing.”

Last year, Fudge Kitchen raised an impressive £1,389.75 for Caudwell Children—and this year, they’re aiming to top it.

Why This Collaboration Matters for Children and Families

Mike Harper, Director at Caudwell Children, shared his heartfelt thanks:

“On behalf of all the children and families we support, we can’t thank Fudge Kitchen enough. Especially as we mark our 25th anniversary, this kind of support means the world. Plus, the Birthday Fudge is absolutely delicious!”
