This is a permanent post responsible for the operational and administrative aspects of the Charity’s learning activity. You will take an active role in promoting and engaging employees from all departments across the Charity in all aspects of training, development and learning. As such, you will be familiar with different types of learning styles and be confident in delivering a variety of training sessions.

You will have a key role in ensuring that the charity is a learning organisation with a continual cycle of quality assurance in place supporting all departments. You will set and monitor standards and use the outcomes to assist service development and improvement within and across all departments.


About Caudwell Children

Established in 2000, Caudwell Children is a national charity that works to transform the lives of disabled children and their families, enabling them to challenge the barriers they face throughout childhood by providing practical and emotional support. The Charity is going through an exciting period of growth having recently opened a new state-of-the-art facility for multi-disciplinary therapy programmes for childhood disability and research of neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism, within the grounds of Keele University. It provides a state-of-the-art base for the Charity’s therapies and an environment where ground-breaking research can be undertaken, potentially changing the way some disabilities are treated, and affecting millions of people around the world. Main Duties:

  • Create and deliver the training program for the business, ensuring it stays up-to-date with the changes to the law, CQC, HSE and NICE best practice guidelines.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver induction for all new starters.
  • Responsible for creating a training framework that covers all roles within the Charity, both mandatory and non-mandatory and any other required training.
  • Source new training providers/packages/courses within budget.
  • Draw upon a range of training methods (eLearning, power point, research activities, role play, presentations, practical, field-based, etc) to suit differing learnings needs.
  • Ensure the training program supports staff to keep skills and knowledge up to date and to continue their professional development.
  • Ensure all training in delivered in line with Company Policies & Procedures and Brand Values, including equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes; provide reports to the senior leadership team; make sure learning methods are cost effective and make improvements where necessary.
  • Assist line managers to solve specific training requirements either on a one to one or group basis; play a proactive role where individual additional training needs are identified.
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues and other professionals with whom you come into contact.
  • Liaise with the management team to evaluate the ongoing effectiveness of our training to ensure a cycle of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records relating to training compliance, and highlight any overdue training to line managers.
  • Keep own practice and knowledge up to date through research, meetings and attending courses.
  • Be prepared to work flexibly on an individual basis and as part of team.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • A good standard of general education.
  • Experience of assisting in the production of learning materials and resources.
  • Experience of delivering training to a wide audience using a variety of learning methods.
  • Sound IT proficiency in Microsoft Office, database management, data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience of using a database and producing reports and findings.
  • Experience of creating and maintaining records and filing systems.
  • Excellent team-working and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • An openness and willingness to learn new skills and to put these into practice.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent).
  • CIPD Level 3 in Learning Practice (or equivalent).
  • CIPD Associate Diploma in Organisational Learning & Development (or equivalent).
  • Data protection and safeguarding awareness.
  • Experience in scaling up training and development to match expansion plans.
  • Experience working with volunteers and students.
  • Experience of working in the Charity/Third Sector.
  • Experience of working in ISO regulated organisations.
  • Experience of working in CQC regulated organisations.
