We can provide multi-sensory resources including mixed light and tactile equipment which can be used to create a calming and safe space for your child, while developing important skills such as balance and co-ordination, cause and effect, eye movement and sense of touch.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Families can apply for equipment directly.
  • Child must have a confirmed disability and be aged 0-18 years old.
  • Must legally live in the UK.
  • You will be considered for our support if you can demonstrate that either: You are in receipt of means-tested benefits OR your household income is no more than £60,000 excluding benefits. Please check FAQ’s for details.
  • Applications must be supported by an Occupational Therapist or healthcare professional.

Multi-sensory Equipment FAQs

The sensory centre is beneficial for sensory input, self-regulation, self-led exploration and visual and tactile stimulation.

A Dark Den is an invaluable piece of equipment for children who can become overwhelmed. The Dark Den can be used to reduce sensory stimuli, providing a safe space for your child to regulate their emotions. 

The space projector can help with visual stimulation and tracking, such as tracking the different patterns and colours. This aids visual development and focus. The calming movements and colours can also help soothe and decrease anxiety.

The Sensory Centre can help with visual development, focus and self-regulation. The centre can be used to be as stimulating or calming as required for your child, and can help a child with self-led exploration and sensory regulation.

 

An interactive 1-metre bubble tube with colourful fish, attached to a soft play plinth and acrylic mirrors (x2). Additionally, a fibre-optic side-glow which is an acrylic spray of fibres that change colour and are safe to handle. The Mixed Light Equipment encourages tactile and visual stimulation, tracking and decreasing of anxiety/soothing.

The Interactive Bubble Tube is useful for visual stimulation and tracking, for example tracking the movement of the bubbles and changing colours. A set of 12 colourful fish are included in the interactive bubble tube, the fish rise to the top and float back to the bottom. This also aids visual tracking, concentration and focus.

The UV Musical Tactile Panel is a colourful and visual panel filled with tactile items to explore. This pack may help those who usually avoid tactile input to engage as it is self-led and visually appealing. This can help to de-sensitise your child which can then aid in other activities such as self-care tasks.

You will be considered for our support if you can demonstrate that either:

You are in receipt of means-tested benefits, and you can send us all pages of a benefits letter showing your full name and address, dated within the last 12 months.

This would be one of the following:

  • Universal Credits
  • Tax Credits
  • Pension Credits
  • Income Support
  • Housing Benefit

OR

Your household income is no more than £60,000 excluding benefits, and you can send us one of the following:

  • Wage slips for each person in the household showing the full name and address, dated within the last three months.
  • P60’s for each person from the last financial year.
  • Your most recent set of accounts or a letter from your accountant if you work for yourself.

In both instances you will also need to declare that your savings do not exceed £16,000.

We cannot order your equipment until we have received the family contribution and you have returned your signed agreement form.

We will place the order directly with our supplier. The supplier will advise on delivery lead times and arrange delivery directly.

Once the sensory equipment has been ordered with the supplier, delivery usually takes between 6 – 8 weeks. Please note, this may be subject to change.

We cannot make donations or payments to other charities, trusts or organisations including schools. However, sensory equipment can be purchased through ourselves if desired.
